Hob-beats Percussion Duo was founded in 2002 by Magdalena Kordylasińska and Miłosz Pękala, the students of the Music Academy in Warsaw. Its repertoire includes works by J. S. Bach, A. Koppel, M. Miki, E. Kopetzki, A.Ignatowicz-Glińska, P. Norgard, and S. Barfoed. It has performed at many prestigious festivals and concerts in Poland, Germany, Israel, Brasil.
In July 2004 the hob-beats duo won First Prize and an award from the Warsaw Mayor at the 2nd Mikołaj Stasiniewicz International Percussion Competition in Warsaw also in 2009 they were the finalists of International Percussion Duo Competition in Luxemburg. As a quartett with two pianists they also won Grand Prix on New Tradition Festival in Warsaw 2007, and the Special Prize on Svetozar Stracina Festival in Bratrislava 2007.
Members of the duo have worked with such prominent teachers as J. Geoffroy, W. Moersch, D. Berg, E. Sejourne, R. Flores. They also had a great possibility to work with Steven Schick, Marta Klimasara and Mathias Reumert. Thanks to a grant from the Socrates/Erasmus programme, they spent the academic year 2004/05 at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where they perfected their skills under the guidance of Gert Mortensen.
In 2008 they recorded their debut cd "Returning Sounds" whit few polish duo pieces commisioned by Hob-beats and two european compositions written for Safri Duo.
The Hob-beats concerts and cd has great reviews and is warmly welcome by audience and critics all over the world.
